Dear -FirstName-,

I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones well.

As a leader in The United Methodist Church, your generosity in tithes, offerings, and, by extension, apportionment dollars, have helped support the immigration legal services ministry of New York Justice for Our Neighbors (“NY JFON”). Thanks to your support, we were able to help our clients overcome the daunting obstacles they faced over the past few years.

It was thanks to you that we were able to reunite a mother and father with their children from Benin after sixteen long years apart.

It was thanks to you that an asylum seeker from Brazil fleeing persecution won his hearing.

It was thanks to you that an unaccompanied child from Central America got legal status that can eventually lead to legal permanent residency.

Now, we celebrate our community’s faith and unity and look ahead to new horizons. To this end, New York Justice for Our Neighbors would like to invite you to An Art Auction for Our Neighbors, an online art auction we are hosting from October 15th to November 15 to raise funds for our legal aid services. Exceptionally talented artists and collectors from around the country have generously donated pieces for friends of NY JFON like you to browse and bid on. Starting on October 15th, you can participate in the auction at this link.

By purchasing a piece of art, you will not only find a beautiful object that will remain with you for years to come; you will also be providing essential support to NY JFON as we continue to serve immigrants in our communities with compassion, dignity, and love. Your purchase will help us provide free legal representation to people from all over the world seeking help in the often complicated and confusing immigration process. The past few years threw immigrants’ livelihoods into question, and many of the policies and disparities that prevent our immigrant neighbors from living peaceful lives still exist.

Every day, NY JFON’s staff and attorneys come to work with a vision. It is a vision of a safe and just world for our immigrant neighbors, a world in which families may celebrate every holiday together and a world in which no child has to fear living without their parent. You enable us to work towards making this vision a reality.

We hope you’ll find a piece of art to buy at the auction. If not, we hope you’ll donate. Any amount, no matter how small, makes a difference. And whether or not you are able to buy a piece of art or make a donation at this time, we ask that you pray for the immigrant families we strive to support by coming to the site, clicking on “Activity Feed,” and offering your prayer in the comments.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Sending peace,

Rev. Paul A. Fleck
