UM General Conference 2019: No "Way Forward" Without Listening to Queer Voices

Submitted by Pastor Jeff Wells at Church of the Village:

The New York Annual Conference was the only conference in the worldwide UM connection to elect a new delegation for this special General Conference, with the explicit intent to give LGBTQI people agency in their own future. Then, the delegation itself elected two queer persons to lead – Jorge Lockward to head the delegation and Rev. Kristina Hansen to serve as vice chair.
The United Methodist News Service is running a three-part blog series by queer United Methodists. The first two commentaries have been published on the UMNS website:

In addition, the blog site Hacking Christianity is hosting a queer delegate blog series. The first two have been published:

NYAC CAMPING MINISTRIES

NYAC Camps are celebrating our annual Camping Sunday on March 3, 2019. So many of you have experienced first hand the remarkable effect that camping has on lives.  Making camp available to every child depends on your  generosity...Please consider making a donation so that Quinipet and Kingswood continue touching the lives of others the way we hope it touched yours!

“Camp is a beautiful experience that has the power to alter a child's life. I know this to be true as I was a camper for four summers, and they were the most transformative and amazing weeks of my life to date. A quality faith-based camp acts as a catalyst towards childhood success and individual acceptance of themselves and their faith.”   --Counselor

Packages will be mailed to all local UMC churches in the coming weeks. The resources found in these packets will also be available to congregations online at https://www.nyaccamps.org/camping-sunday.html. Stop by soon for video resources, flyers, bulletin insert and a special children's sermon.
