Volunteers Requested for Tornado Response
Following the tornadoes that affected areas of the New York Conference 20 days ago, the NYAC Mission office has been in touch with local pastors and homeowners referred to us to assess local needs and possible response efforts.
We have also been in touch with persons from the American Red Cross, the Southern Baptists, CT VOAD, and others currently on scene and doing assessments. It is our hope and intent to work through designated organizations as part of any long term response effort.
At this point, much of the work is chain-saw related. There are some 150 jobs that have been assessed and 50 more requests pending.
While the NYAC does not officially authorize chain saw teams there is a need for volunteers to help move brush and debris firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is a great chance for our ERTs and other volunteers to be engaged. If you are interested and able to assist please contact the Incident Command Center at email@example.com or 475-235-8473.
In advance, we thank those who will step up and ask that if you do serve, you please inform the mission office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As this recovery progresses, and as additional volunteers may be needed for the long-term recovery we will continue to provide updates.
