New York Conference Laity:   

Electing Laity for 2020 General Conference May 5-15, 2020 in Minneapolis, MN    

At the June 2019 New York Annual Conference we will elect clergy and laity delegates to the 2020 General Conference to be held May 5 thru 15, 2020 in Minneapolis, MN.  For 2020 the number of LAITY delegates we elect from New York is three (3) plus alternates.

To put your name forward as a candidate for lay delegate you must follow the process and meet the requirements.

To be eligible the prospective lay delegate shall have been a member of the United Methodist Church for at least two years prior to the election and shall have been an active participant in the United Methodist Church for at least four years prior to the election. In addition, lay members must be members of a church within the annual conference electing them (Rule 88).      

An eligible person shall declare her/his desire to be a candidate by submitting a Statement of Intent.  Below is a link to download that document. It includes a nominations statement, a short biographical sketch and a picture (Rule 89a). 
If you are not the elected lay member of annual conference, please include a certification from your administrative board or church council chair.  This document should verify that you meet the membership and activity requirements previously stated, (Rule 88).
